Nambour into decider, sets up Noosa showdown
By Patrick Gillett
Nambour are back in Sunshine Coast rugby’s women’s Grand Final. They will play Noosa after defeating Maroochydore 22-nil at University on Saturday.
“Credit to Maroochydore, they were physical, they were dominant,” said Nambour co-coach Jess Broadhurst. “I think it was 5-nil at half-time and they just made us work for it. But .. it's not what you do in round one, it's about what you do in finals. And look, Noosa took it out of us last week [in the major semi] and we had a job to do and I'm just grateful that we're on the right side of things today.”
Maroochydore kept trying despite the score against them growing in the second half.
“I think it was a hard-fought game,” said Maroochydore captain Lucinda Kelly. “We didn't really give up at all in that game, which I think that's a testament to our team and the strength that we've brought all season. So, although we didn't win, I'm really proud of the girls out there and we did everything we could to win. So couldn't ask for any more, really.”
