New fire truck bolsters Bli Bli brigade’s frontline capability

A state-of-the-art fire truck has arrived at Bli Bli and District Rural Fire Brigade, strengthening the town’s emergency response resources and volunteer firefighters’ ability to protect their community.

The Isuzu dual-cab medium attack appliance, valued at about $400,000, was officially handed over at the brigade’s shed on Friday 6 February 2026. It joins the brigade’s existing vehicles and will be used for responding to local incidents as well as planned mitigation work – such as hazard reduction burns and preparedness activities across the Sunshine Coast hinterland.

For volunteers who give up their time to keep residents and properties safe, the upgraded vehicle’s modern crew-protection systems are an immediate practical benefit.

Minister for Police and Emergency Services and Member for Ninderry Dan Purdie said this commitment showed his government’s strong support for regional communities.

“Our Rural Firefighters go above and beyond for this community, and this new appliance gives them the modern, reliable equipment they need to do their job with confidence and capability,” Minister Purdie said.

RFSQ South Eastern Region Deputy Chief Officer John Welke acknowledged the importance of the new appliance in enabling the Bli Bli and District Rural Fire Brigade to continue its vital work in the community.

“The Bli Bli and District Rural Fire Brigade has a proud history of serving its community, and this new appliance will ensure they can continue to provide essential support when it is needed most,” he said.

“The vehicle’s advanced capabilities will ensure the brigade can continue to deliver exceptional service to the people of Bli Bli and surrounding areas.”

Minister for Police and Emergency Services Dan Purdie represented Minister for Fire Ann Leahy at the Appliance Handover Ceremony on Friday 06 February 2026 at the Bli Bli and District Rural Fire Brigade.
