Bar Deco, King Ludwigs and Sopra earn spots in OpenTable’s top 50 list
The Sunshine Coast hinterland has claimed three places on OpenTable’s prestigious 2025 Top 50 Restaurants for Brunch and Lunch list, showcasing the region’s growing reputation for quality dining. Yandina’s Bar Deco, Sopra Cucina & Bar in Bli Bli and Maleny’s King Ludwigs German Restaurant and Bavarian Beer Bar all featured among the nation’s best.
Bar Deco in Yandina was praised for its “European soul”, blending classic bistro-style cuisine with locally sourced produce and warm hospitality. Located in the heart of town, the venue offers a stylish yet relaxed setting that has made it a favourite for both regulars and visitors seeking a memorable Mother’s Day meal.
Sopra Cucina & Bar director Luca Ruiu said the accolade reflected the team’s commitment to excellence. “We were absolutely thrilled to learn that Sopra was named one of OpenTable’s Top 50 Restaurants for Brunch and Lunch in Australia, it’s an honour we hold close to our hearts,” he said. “This recognition is a reflection of our team’s dedication and the passion we pour into every plate, every service. It’s about more than food, it’s about the stories, the memories, the connection we create around the table.”
He added that the restaurant’s name—Sopra, meaning “above” in Italian—reflected its ambition. “Every dish we serve is a reflection of where we’ve come from and what we love, crafted with care, inspired by tradition, and elevated with a thoughtful, modern twist.”
Mr Ruiu said Sopra was humming for Mother’s Day.
“It’s a day filled with love, laughter, and shared meals, exactly what Sopra was built for,” he noted.
King Ludwigs in Maleny also made the list, between 1 March 2024 and 28 February 2025. Restaurants were assessed on factors including average ratings, five-star review percentage, advance bookings, capacity use and direct searches. Qualified venues met a minimum threshold of brunch reviews and Sunday lunch availability before being ranked on an overall score.
