New dental practice in Palmwoods offers oral surgery, supports anxious patients

A new dental clinic opened in Palmwoods on April 8 and the experienced team of dental professionals are excited to bring a unique and holistic approach to caring for patients of all ages.

Palmwoods Dental is headed by Principal Dentist, Dr Cheng-Yu Hung (Yoyo), Dr Dinuk Kumarage, Practice Manager, Jasmyn Bird, and Dental Assistants, Beth and Teneil.

Both dentists bring experience in public and private dentistry to the Practice, with Dr Yoyo choosing Palmwoods for his practice, to serve the thriving community.

“Dr Yoyo has lived and worked on the Sunshine Coast for many years and was drawn to Palmwoods because the town and it’s surrounds are absolutely flourishing,” said Jasmyn.

“It just made sense to provide accessible, high quality dentistry to the families in the growing Palmwoods community ”

The team at Palmwoods Dental provides general dental services to patients of all ages but have a passion for dental surgery & treating anxious patients.

“Both dentists have a particular interest in oral surgery, including implants and full mouth rehabilitation,” said Jasmyn.

“These types of treatment are typically referred on by general dental practices but we have the capacity to carry out these more complex treatments here. This is great for people who would prefer not to travel to the Coast.”

Anxious patients are another area of expertise, the team at Palmwoods Dental strives to make every patient feel comfortable & confident.

“Many people experience anxiety about going to the dentist,” she said. “And although we can offer happy gas and IV sedation, our process is to first understand where that anxiety originates from, and to build relationships with our patients to the degree that they look forward to their visits with us.

“Helping patients relax plays a huge part in this, and Dinuk’s calm nature and Yoyo’s infectious laugh certainly help our patients feel calm and supported during their treatments.”
