After almost being cancelled due to wet weather, the Palmwoods Community & Business Association’s Spring Bush Dance attracted hundreds of people, young and old, to Palmwoods Memorial Hall on Saturday, October 24.
Organisers said they were ready to cancel on Thursday as pouring rain affected ticket sales, but by Saturday night the event was a sellout.
Mums, dads, kids, singles and seniors came together to dance to the music and calls of The Swag and Fiddle Bushdance Band.
There were also prizes for the best-dressed, a raffle, and delicious food and drinks.
Committee member Kay Nixon thanked everyone for braving the weather and supporting the event.
“It's been a pretty wild week. So thank you for coming. Palmwoods is a great community and tonight we're raising funds for the Palmwoods Community Garden, ‘Soil and Soul’ up on Hill Street.
“If you haven't seen it, it's up there and it’s there for the community. And if you're interested in becoming a member, let us know.”
Ms Nixon also thanked the many volunteers who helped make the night possible.
“So we've got a whole lot of volunteers that have helped and we're really grateful for them. So thanks for all those people for coming along and helping us tonight.”
