Woombye principal joins Olympics board
Sunshine Coast 2032 has announced key leadership appointments as preparations intensify for the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games — including the appointment of Woombye State School Principal Paul Lowik to its board.
Mr Lowik brings 45 years of experience in education, including 38 years as a principal. He is also a long-time advocate for youth and regional sport and has led several Sunshine Coast sporting associations. His work has driven inclusive programs, facility upgrades, and strategic investment in local sport.
“These appointments strengthen our Sunshine Coast 2032 team at a pivotal time for the region as we work to maximise the legacy of Brisbane 2032,” said Chair Roz White. Australian Olympic swimming legend Duncan Armstrong OLY OAM has been named Patron of Sunshine Coast 2032. Other new board members include former federal minister Mal Brough, (Deputy Chair), and Olympian Sonia Heath OLY, who brings two decades of leadership across sport, government and corporate sectors.
