QCWA Yandina showcases skills on Comp Day

The ladies of the Yandina Branch of the Queensland Country Women’s Association (QCWA) recently enjoyed their Branch Competition Day with lots of entries showcasing a variety of crafts and skills.

The purpose of the competitions is to keep these skills alive and to encourage others to take up these enjoyable crafts.

Overall winners were Maureen Brook for Photography and Savoury Cookery, Diane Reedman for Sweet Cookery, Ursula Doohan (Vice President) for Floral Art and Lynda Tomkins for Knitting and Crochet.

The members would like to extend a special thank you to guest judges Sandra Brown (Cookery) and Sophie Theobald (Photography) and to members Cathy Kunde and Ursula Doohan (Knitting and Crochet judges) and Jo Foster and Janet Campbell (Floral Art judges).

They would also like to express their appreciation to prize donors Yandina Art and Framing, Crochet Australia and the Branch.

Members of the community are invited to attend the Branch’s monthly ‘Craft, Cuppa and Chat’ mornings held on the third Friday of the month at 9.30 a.m. at the QCWA hall at 11 Stevens Street in Yandina if interested in meeting the ladies and seeing the crafts they are working on.

For more information on this and other activities please see the Branch’s Facebook page or email Branch President Jenny Douglas at yandinabranch@qcwa.org.au.
