Secrets on the Lake founders George and Aldy Johnston have shared a warm and personal Christmas message with guests, reflecting on 28 years of hospitality, hard work and the deep friendships formed along the way.

In a note sent to their community – accompanied by a beautifully produced 58-page Christmas e-book – Aldy said the couple remain hands-on despite the growing complexity of running a major accommodation business.

“Yes we are still here, working daily, meeting, greeting, maintaining and still generally running the show,” she said. “But with massive changes across the board, we rely on our staff and family to help us maintain the higher level of competence now required.”

Aldy described the “frantic” daily rhythm of ensuring treehouses are perfectly prepared, meals and massages booked, and every detail personalised for each guest. George continues to lead the much-loved treehouse tours – a highlight thanks to his trademark humour and enthusiasm.

Dining on the Deck will be “pumping” from November 25 as families, colleagues and community groups celebrate Christmas overlooking Lake Baroon. Secrets will close only on Christmas and Boxing Day to allow the Johnstons time with family.

“We wish you all a very happy Christmas,” she wrote. “Enclosed is our special gift — an e-book giving you a taste of what Secrets is about.”
