Buy local push gives Woombye shoppers chance to win

Woombye shoppers will have an extra reason to support village businesses in June, with a new buy local campaign offering a $250 prize for spending close to home.

Community Bank Woombye and the Woombye Community and Business Association have partnered to launch We Love Woombye - Buy Local Month, encouraging residents to support local businesses, local jobs and the village economy.

From June 1 to 26, customers who spend $20 or more at any business in the 4559 postcode can upload their receipt to the We Love Woombye - Buy Local Month page to enter the draw.

The winner will receive a $250 voucher to spend at a participating WCBA business of their choice. The campaign is designed to create a month-long lift for local traders by encouraging shoppers to choose Woombye first for everyday purchases, meals, services and gifts.

“The more they shop local, the more chances they have to win!”  said WCBA President Milo Frawley.

Businesses are being encouraged to help spread the word by sharing campaign posts on social media, reminding customers to keep and upload receipts, displaying campaign posters or signage, mentioning the promotion at checkout and adding the campaign graphic to newsletters or community updates.

Bendigo Community Bank Manager Hayley Saunders said the campaign was about supporting the people behind Woombye’s shops and services while celebrating the village’s strong community spirit.

“By working together, we can create excitement across Woombye and encourage more people to shop locally throughout June,” she said.
The winner will be drawn on Buy Local Day on Saturday, June 27.

“Shop Local. Support Local. Love Woombye,”  said Hayley.
