New Burnside gym offers 24/7 fitness community for locals

Stepz Fitness Burnside owner, Phil Barry “I see this style of gym as a way to help people enjoy higher levels of fitness, health and overall wellbeing.”

A new gym has opened in Burnside, and it promises to be a welcoming space, wherever you are in your fitness journey.

Stepz Fitness Burnside opened its doors early this month and owner, Phil Barry, is excited to welcome new members to experience the Stepz Fitness difference.

A former teacher with 20 years experience, Phil brings his love of helping people to this venture.

“I have always had an interest in fitness and health, and as a teacher I really enjoyed helping people. I think this venture really nicely combines those passions,” he said.

“I love the saying ‘sound body, sound mind', and I see this style of gym as a way to help people enjoy higher levels of fitness, health and overall wellbeing.”

The Stepz Fitness model is a Brisbane born model that combines 24/7 gym access with group training, including Strong, Fit, Hiit and Yoga classes that can be modified to the individual's ability and needs.

Stepz focuses on boutique, non-intimidating, and welcoming environments designed by an architect so that they are warm, welcoming spaces that don’t create sensory overload.

“They are more about families and building a strong - in more ways than one! - community,” he said.

Stepz Fitness Burnside offers 24/7 access, with state of the art weights and cardio equipment, and morning and evening fitness classes.

“We have had a lot of interest already with people enjoying the group environment from the very first class. The classes really are becoming little social hubs. And the massage chairs, which helps with recovery and relaxation, have been a huge hit,” he laughed.
