Stockland plans a second Yandina retirement project

Yandina could be home to more than 500 retirement dwellings, with Stockland lodging plans for a second over-50s community beside its Halcyon Yandina project now under construction.

The new proposal, submitted to Sunshine Coast Council, seeks approval for up to 268 manufactured homes on a 15.5-hectare site in the Steggalls Road & Browns Creek Road viscinity.

The land is currently vacant farmland.

If approved, the project would sit directly west of the 250-home Halcyon development, which is expected to welcome its first residents in mid-2026.

Planning documents indicate the two sites would be linked internally and could operate as a single, integrated community.

The application outlines mostly single-storey detached homes, with some attached dwellings.

Lots would range from 120sqm to 175sqm, with some two-storey homes allowed up to 8.5m in height. About 6117sqm would be set aside for shared facilities including a pool, courts, clubhouse and wellness centre.

Stockland’s submission argues the region faces limited future supply of retirement housing and that additional lifestyle homes would free up existing residential stock as retirees downsize.

The land is zoned Rural but is earmarked for Low Density Residential under council’s draft planning scheme.

Council will now undertake an impact assessment of the application.
