Gallery: Show springs to life as rain holds off

The Sunshine Coast Agricultural Show burst back into life at Nambour Showgrounds on Friday, with the rain holding off long enough for visitors to enjoy a full day of arena action, agricultural tradition and family entertainment.

From the opening of the gates at 9am, families made their way through the showgrounds to explore livestock displays, local produce, showbags, rides, food stalls and the many competitions and attractions spread across the grounds.

The show’s rural roots remained proudly on display, with livestock, woodchopping, sheep shearing, show-jumping and agricultural exhibits providing a strong link to the district’s farming heritage.

Children were kept busy with the Mega Petting Zoo, Wildlife Unleashed, puppet shows and hands-on animal encounters including goat cuddling, while three live stages, local producers, artisans and the Sunshine & Sons Show Saloon added to the atmosphere.

As daylight fades, attention is turning to the main arena, where the program steps up with high-energy entertainment including stunt trucks, freestyle motocross, horses and brumbies.

The evening will conclude with fireworks lighting up the Nambour sky, bringing the first day of the three-day event to a colourful close.

The show continues on Saturday from 9am to 10pm and Sunday from 9am to 9pm, with free shuttle buses operating to and from the Nambour Showgrounds.
