Sunshine Coast Aged Care Expo aims to build a more connected community

The Sunshine Coast will host a free Aged Care Community Expo, bringing together local and regional services, organisations and community groups to help older people and their families discover what support is available locally.

The Aged Care Events Community was founded in 2025 by Cody and Leigh, following the success of their Community Disability Expos. Their events focus on creating accessible, welcoming spaces where people can ask questions, meet local organisations and make genuine community connections.

The Sunshine Coast expo will be open to older people, families, carers, support workers and the wider community, with a Quiet Hour from 12pm to 1pm providing a lower-sensory environment for those who prefer a quieter setting.

Micharla Russell, spokesperson for The Aged Care Events Community, said the event was about more than simply connecting people with services.

“People can often feel like they have to navigate a maze to find out what support is available. Bringing local organisations together in one place makes those first conversations a little easier.

“A big reason we come into communities is to help curb social isolation. We want people to come along, have a chat, meet someone new and find out what is happening locally.

“We hope every community we visit feels a little more connected when we leave.”
