Turning knowledge into action at Parkinson’s Conference – Sunshine Coast 2025

The Sunshine Coast Parkinson’s Conference returns to Maroochy RSL on Tuesday October 14, offering practical, research-based advice for people living with Parkinson’s and their families.

Now in its second year, the conference has sold out for in-person attendance, with a full-day livestream available nationally. The theme, “Knowledge into Action,” focuses on translating evidence into practical steps, covering movement and neuroplasticity, the gut–brain axis, nutrition and medication timing, sleep, intimacy and relationships, and carers’ wellbeing.

“Parkinson’s doesn’t pause while people decode research papers. This day turns the science into do-this-tomorrow steps – movement, nutrition, meds timing, sleep and stress – so people leave lighter and more confident,” said Rory Cullinan, Operations Director at The Parkinson’s Centre.

The program features keynote speaker Clyde Campbell AM presenting Hope & Progress, alongside expert sessions by Associate Professor Richard Gordon (gut microbiome), Dr Quentes de Vries (clinical management), Dr Fiona Lithander (nutrition and levodopa absorption), Barbara Cullinan (brain health and movement), and Annie Harvey (wellbeing).

A lived-experience panel and Health Expo will connect attendees with local services, with proceeds supporting the Parkinson’s Support Fund.

More than 2,000 Sunshine Coast residents are living with Parkinson’s, part of the 150,000 Australians affected nationwide, with around 50 new diagnoses each day.

• Tuesday October 14, Maroochy RSL Event Centre, 105 Memorial Avenue, Maroochydore. Livestream passes via The Parkinson’s Centre www.theparkinsonscentre.com.au.

Clyde Campbell AM will be presenting Hope & Progress at the 2025 conference.
