Nambour’s $300m building boom a ‘vote of confidence’

More than $300 million in private investment under way across Nambour should give businesses confidence in the town’s future according to Fairfax MP Ted O’Brien.

Mr O’Brien told the Nambour Chamber of Commerce Coffee Catch-up on August 6 that Southeast Queensland was well placed for continued growth, with the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games attracting capital to the region.

“Here in Nambour, to have $300 million right now in investment and construction going on, I think we should all take that as an enormous vote of confidence in Nambour at a time when people are losing confidence elsewhere,” he said. “And that should give us confidence to continue to invest and back this place because it has such a strong future.”

Mr O’Brien said he had visited businesses along Lowe Street and half of Currie Street during the previous week and had heard positive feedback about work taking place in the town.

He praised the chamber’s leadership and said co-operation among federal, state and local representatives would be important to Nambour’s progress.

“The more the three tiers of government can get together and work for the sake of Nambour, the better,” he said.

The investment pipeline included major residential, commercial and community developments across the town as previously touted by Nambour Groups Chair Rhonda Billett.
