Straight-ahead jazz, swinging grooves and soulful storytelling at The Presynct
Sunshine Coast vocalist Robyn Brown brings her rich, evocative voice to The Presynct with her acclaimed ensemble The Indigo Collective, delivering an evening of world-class jazz marked by superb musicianship, inventive arrangements and thrilling, in-the-moment improvisation.
A seasoned performer across Australia and Europe, Brown is known for her deep connection to the jazz tradition. Her repertoire journeys through early blues and swing, Latin grooves, bebop, soul jazz and her own original compositions, with a particular love for the songs of the great early jazz and blues singers. The result is music that feels both timeless and alive—honouring the past while speaking clearly to the present.
“This stylish Australian gift to the world of music owns a very warm and natural voice that is bound to draw your attention. Her humble and graceful stage presence, where she gives space to the band, only makes her stand out even more.” — Yrjö Ykä Halinen (Prague)
Backed by The Indigo Collective, Brown is joined by a powerhouse lineup of Queensland’s finest jazz musicians: Ross Nixon, Peter Walters, Trent Bryson-Dean and Phil Hayter. Together, they share a passion for musical conversation, swing and spontaneity. Between them, these musicians bring decades of experience—touring the US, performing in New York and Japan, playing Europe’s leading jazz clubs, appearing on iconic TV shows such as Hey Hey It’s Saturday and Spicks & Specks, and composing music for film. Their recent performance at Brisbane City Hall sold out, underscoring their growing reputation as a must-see live act.
Appearing as part of The Jazz Sessions at The Presynct, the band will present a carefully curated set of jazz standards—some rarely heard favourites—alongside audience-requested tunes. These intimate listening nights evoke the atmosphere of a European jazz club: mood-lighting, close-up, and perfect for enjoying a glass of wine while the music unfolds just metres away.
With The Jazz Sessions quickly earning a reputation for presenting artists of international calibre, this promises to be a standout evening for jazz lovers on the Sunshine Coast.
