Great music, festive fun is back for Nambour Tramfest November 29
Entertainment will include jazz singer Imogen Grace and guitarist Stefan Unternahrer and new band Tucana including, from left, drummer Declan Newmen, lead guitar Johnny Guitar and bass player Kaleb Preo.
Nambour’s favourite Christmas street party is back, with Tramfest set to light up Mill Street this coming Saturday, November 29 from 4pm to 9pm.
The free, family-friendly event will feature great live music, a rock climbing wall, face painting, market stalls, food vendors, a pop-up bar and plenty of festive cheer – all in support of the town’s iconic Tram Project.
Organised by the Nambour Tramway Co, the event brings the town together and raises funds for the long-awaited Nambour Tram. The steampunk-style tram designed by local artisan Russell Anderson is part of a broader plan to revitalise the CBD and celebrate Nambour’s proud history as a sugar town.
Visitors will enjoy ‘Nambour Live and Local’ performances by three bands from St John’s College, a great new band called ‘Tucana’, sensational jazz singer Imogen Grace and to finish off the evening entertainment, the ever-popular band ‘Lazy Guns’ will strut their stuff.
Santa will make a special appearance with gifts for children, and there’ll be a STEM fundraiser in the form of the race that stops the nation (or at least stops Nambour) Ted O’Brien’s Legendary Toad Races for Burnside High students.
Although the Tram project has experienced regulatory delays and meticulous engineering scrutiny, organisers remain confident it will be completed by late 2027.
“Tramfest is about more than raising money for The Tram – it’s about bringing people together and keeping the dream alive,” said Nambour Tramway Co Chair Greg Rogerson.
“With the tram bogeys built, electric motors and transmissions installed and now on show and somewhat operational at the Western Terminus, the Christmas Tramfest event will give TNTCo the ideal opportunity to demonstrate their workings to interested residents and field any questions.
“We honestly believe we’re constructing the best Tram of its kind in the world,” said Mr Rogerson. “Yes, it’s taking an exceedingly long time to build, but we’re building a Tram that we’re genuinely proud of and most importantly, a Tram that Nambour and it’s community can feel exceptionally proud of.”
