46th Yandina Street Fair returns this month

The renowned Yandina Street Fair will make a huge return again this year on Sunday August 23, for its 46th year.

Central Yandina across Stevens and Railway Streets, and the eastern end of Low Street will be awash with some 5000 people who will come to savor

the food, beverages, art and craft, amusements and rides, and the stage entertainment.

The Fair will open to the public at 11.00am and the day will conclude with a Grand Finale Fireworks show near Main Stage at 7.20pm.

“There will be some 120 stalls across the precinct, 3 entertainment stages covering everybody’s musical preferences, children’s rides and amusements, stilt walkers, magic shows on the Community Stage, an appearance on the streets by ‘Silver Steve’, roving entertainers, face painting, balloon artistry, a petting zoo, pony rides, a mechanical bull – including the mechanical bull competition, Next Gen Archery, an opportunity for children ages 10+ to contribute to a street art creation, and a speedway and classic cars,” said Fair organiser, Greg Corbin.

“The Sunshine Coast Plein Air art group will have a wonderful display at the Yandina School of Arts Hall. Local specialty shops and restaurants, cafes, and the hotel are open too.”

The much loved annual event showcases community and talent and is supported by local groups including Business Yandina, the RSL, Men’s Shed, Yandina Baptist Church, CWA, YADCA, various schools and performing groups, the Rural Fire Brigade and QSES.

“Many local businesses, politicians, councillors, and community groups, along with Sunshine Coast Regional Council, have generously provided the much

needed funds by way of grants and sponsorships and other ‘in kind’ support for this year’s Fair,” Mr Corbin said.

“It will once again be a huge of celebration for Yandina and districts and will no doubt draw visitors from the nearby Sunshine Coast tourist hotspots.

Entry to the event is free, come along, share and contribute to the amazing spirit of fun and community that will fill Yandina on Sunday, August 23.”
