Nambour doubles down on Buy Local with stalls, markets
Nambour is gearing up for a full weekend of community spirit and local shopping with the inaugural Buy Local Weekend on Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 June.
The event builds on Buy Local Day—a Sunshine Coast-wide initiative on the Saturday—by extending celebrations into Sunday with extra markets, live music and in-store activities throughout the town.
“We’re going the extra mile by making it a full weekend celebration of local love,” said Jemma Slater, Nambour Place Activation Officer at Sunshine Coast Council. “Nambour has always been known for its strong community spirit and support for local businesses. Let’s harness that energy to make this weekend bigger and better than ever!”
Local businesses are invited to register special deals or events via www.iamnambour.com.au. Participating traders will appear on a digital map to help shoppers plan their local adventure.
I Am Nambour spokesperson Rhonda Billett said the campaign was about connection as well as commerce. “By coming together for Buy Local Weekend, our businesses can benefit from increased exposure, and shoppers can discover new talents right here in town,” she said. “This initiative will remind everyone why Nambour’s heart lies in its locally owned shops and services.”
Footpath trading Saturday
In a Nambour-exclusive activation, traders on Saturday 28 June will be allowed to extend their offerings onto the footpath, creating a street-market feel.
“Lots of businesses will also be clearing stock due to EOFY,” Rhonda said. “It’s a great opportunity to wander Nambour’s streets and grab a bargain.”
Markets and music Sunday
On Sunday 29 June, the Old Ambulance Station will host a sell-out market with live music and vinyl spinning throughout the day. Also running is a special Sunday Rummagers Market featuring handmade, homegrown and vintage goods—keeping the good vibes rolling all weekend.
Buy Local Weekend is supported by Sunshine Coast Council, IGA Sunshine Coast, and Buy Local Sunshine Coast.
