Old Ambo packs October with comedy, punk and art
Comedy fans can catch Dave O’Neil and friends on 23 October.
COMEDY, punk rock, experimental art and live performance will keep The Old Ambo buzzing as Nambour’s arts hub rounds out October with a packed program.
The action begins on Thursday, October 22, when The Ambo joins artists and arts organisations across Australia for AusArt Day, a national celebration supporting the arts.
Old Ambo chair Anna Loren said the organisation continued to be buoyed by strong community support. “We’re always so thrilled by the ongoing support we get from our community, and supporting our community motivates every decision we make at The Ambo,” she said.
On Friday, October 23, Funny Coast Comedy brings veteran Australian comedian Dave O’Neil to the Black Box for Dave O’Neil & Friends. Doors open at 7pm, with the show from 7.30pm.
The pace changes sharply the following day when Rotten Fest 5 takes over the Black Box on Saturday, October 24, from 3.30pm to 10pm.
The all-ages punk rock event will bring together seven high-energy bands for an afternoon and evening of live music in the heart of Nambour.
Art and experimental sound then take centre stage when SAMHAIN returns to The Old Ambulance Station for its sixth Sunshine Coast outing.
Bringing together artists from Australia and Ireland across experimental music, sound and visual art, SAMHAIN opens with a free gallery event on Thursday, October 29. Doors open at 6.30pm and the exhibition continues until Saturday, November 7.
The SAMHAIN 2026 Live Event follows on Saturday, October 31, with doors opening at 6.30pm. The performance is ticketed, with limited early-bird tickets available.
Also on October 31, comedian Dan Rath brings Help Me Please to the Black Box from 7pm to 8pm. Presented by A-List Entertainment, the show adds another dose of stand-up to The Ambo’s late-October program.
With everything from punk and comedy to visual art and experimental performance, the final stretch of October again underlines The Old Ambo’s role as one of Nambour’s busiest creative spaces.
Event and ticket details are available through The Old Ambulance Station and Black Box Theatre.
