New business and community awards to celebrate our local achievers
Marty Hunt with Bella Heal from RDA Sunshine Coast.
From quiet achievers to community champions, the people who make our region a better place to live are set to be recognised through the inaugural Above & Beyond Awards - presented by Marty Hunt MP - with nominations officially opening this week.
The new awards program aims to celebrate grassroots contributions from local residents, organisations and volunteers who go above and beyond to strengthen their communities, improve lives and inspire others.
Mr Hunt said the awards were designed to recognise the often-unsung people and organisations quietly making the Nicklin community a better place.
“Every day across our community, there are incredible people stepping up for others without asking for recognition,” Mr Hunt said.
“These awards are about celebrating the health heroes, teachers, volunteers, carers, businesses, young leaders and community champions who help make our region such a special place to live.
“I wanted to create an awards program that truly belongs to the community, one that acknowledges grassroots efforts and gives residents the opportunity to nominate, vote and celebrate together.”
The Above & Beyond Awards feature 12 categories covering community service, wellbeing, education, environmental leadership, agriculture, innovation and local pride.
Award categories include:
• Wellbeing Provider of the Year
• Nightingale Award
• Education or Skills Provider of the Year
• Young Achiever of the Year
• Community-minded Business of the Year
• Community Spirit & Collaboration Award
• Excellence in Prevention
• Supporter of the Year
• Environmental Leadership Award
• Agricultural & Rural Innovation Award
• The Great Neighbour Award
• People’s Choice Award
Mr Hunt said the awards were open to Nicklin residents, as well as Nicklin-based businesses, organisations and community groups.
“Nominations are now open and the process is quick and simple - it only takes a couple of minutes to recognise someone deserving and help celebrate the people going above and beyond in our local community.”
Nominations close on June 26, before the community is invited to vote for finalists ahead of a gala celebration evening at the Nambour RSL Club function room on Saturday, August 15.
The awards are proudly supported by print media partner Sunshine Valley Gazette and radio partner 92.7 MIX FM. Nominate today at martyhunt.com.au
