Community Safety has been my top priority since being elected
Community Safety has been my top priority since being elected, and I’m happy to see the location of the Nambour Police Beat in the heart of the CBD on Lowe St, an officer recruited and doors to open very soon.
Candy canes and tinsel are fun, but being your MP is really about rolling up my sleeves and getting things done for Nicklin. 2025 has been a big year for doing just that.
Community Safety has been my top priority since being elected, and I’m happy to see the location of the Nambour Police Beat in the heart of the CBD on Lowe St, an officer recruited and doors to open very soon.
We’ve strengthened child safety with Daniel’s Law, plus $1.5 million in support for the Daniel Morcombe Foundation to deliver Australia’s Biggest Child Safety Lesson and Day for Daniel, ensuring families have the tools to protect children.
Supporting our local small business has also been a priority - helping family-owned shops access grants and resources, and backing initiatives that keep our local economy thriving.
It’s about ensuring local entrepreneurs have the tools they need to succeed, creating jobs and opportunities in our community.
We’ve also backed our community clubs and grassroots sport, from Nambour Bowls, Nambour and Palmwoods tennis clubs, Nambour and District Netball to the Palmwoods Warriors.
Whether it’s upgraded facilities, new equipment, or lights for Friday night footy, this support keeps people active, connected, and involved in community life.
Our volunteers and emergency services have not been forgotten. New vehicles for Kenilworth and Nambour SES ensure our local heroes can respond when it matters most, especially as we enter storm season.
Meanwhile, young people in Nambour and surrounds have benefited from programs providing workplace skills and personal development opportunities, helping them step confidently into work and life.
Arts, education, health and wellbeing
Education has been another focus, with $2.15 million for Kairos Community College to open in Nambour, significant funding for accessibility upgrades at Woombye State School, and broader funding for local schools to maintain safe and inspiring learning environments.
Health and wellbeing have also seen real progress, with more perinatal mental health beds poised to open at Nambour Hospital, and support for people affected by eating disorders through end ED’s short-term accommodation project in Woombye.
We’ve backed the arts and the environment - from new kilns at the Cooroy Butter Factory Arts Centre to natural area restoration through ECOllaboration, providing meaningful work and training for local trainees.
For everyday life, planning is underway for future road upgrades, improving key intersections, and we’ve directed $2.53 million towards Council’s Namba Place Plan, helping revitalise Nambour’s CBD.
2025 has been a year of real wins for Nicklin - our community deserves to feel safer, stronger, and more connected.
It’s been a privilege to get out and about, meeting locals and seeing projects come to life, and I’m excited for all that is to come in 2026.
