Big Spring Clean gathers momentum with about 100 people registered

This Sunday’s Nambour CBD Big Spring Clean is shaping up as a community success, with close to 100 people already expected to join the town-wide working bee.

I Am Nambour spokesperson Rhonda Billett said the response had been “absolutely fantastic,” with a mix of families, businesses, and community groups registering.

“It has absolutely blown up,” Ms Billett said. “There’s a real mix of everyone and everything, and it’s going to be lovely to see people out there doing their little bit to restore town pride.”

Among those lending a hand are Night Eyes Water and Land Care, a Caloundra-based group travelling up to help clear debris along Petrie Creek and Short Street. Local support includes planter boxes being refreshed by Nambour Grown, led by president Racheal Pascoe. “She’s going to do up all the planter boxes and things like that, which is really exciting,” Ms Billett said.

Cr David Law has also organised graffiti removal kits, a skip bin, gloves, bags and sharps disposal units, with Clean Up Australia supplying extra equipment.

Ms Billett said she anticipated the day would be full of energy and camaraderie. “It’s going to be good to just get it done and let everybody do their little bit — every bit helps, and together it makes a real difference.”

The Big Spring Clean kicks off from 8am in Nambour Town Square (corner Short and Lowe Streets), wrapping up at Club Namba Hotel with complimentary platters thanks to Nicklin MP Marty Hunt.

“It’s time to roll up our sleeves and get our town looking its best,” said Ms Billett.
