Government representatives to visit Smart Pups Assistance Dogs facility
Smart Pups Assistance Dogs for Children with Special Needs will welcome State Member for Ninderry, Dan Purdie MP, and State Member for Nicklin, Marty Hunt to its training facility at 136 Verrierdale Road, Verrierdale, on Friday, 12 September at 11.45am.
The visit will showcase the positive impact of funding received through the Gambling Community Benefit Fund, which has enabled the creation of a new breeding room and puppy enrichment space. This development is helping Smart Pups continue its vital work— training assistance dogs that transform the lives of children living with autism, epilepsy, diabetes, and mobility challenges.
The event will also provide an opportunity to discuss ongoing community engagement, future funding support, and the exciting plans for the Smart Pups Community Shed, a space designed to foster volunteer involvement and local partnerships.
Smart Pups Operations Manager, Sharni Pinder said the visit highlights the essential role of community and government support in helping the organisation meet growing demand.
“We have a number of families on our 2026/27 waiting lists, and facilities like our new breeding and enrichment spaces are critical at giving every pup the best start and skills required for successful training. The continued support of government funding and community partnerships ensures we can meet our goal of changing lives for children with special needs, one paw at a time.”
