Kindness recognised in QCWA awards

The QCWA Nambour North Coast Division has introduced a new award to honour members who embody the values of courage, trust and community spirit through their volunteer work.

The inaugural Cultivating Kindness Champion Awards were presented at the Division’s October meeting in Yandina, with recognition going to two dedicated members for their outstanding service.

Palmwoods Branch member Georgea Rule received her award for teaching dressmaking and sewing skills, helping others to learn practical abilities while fostering connection and confidence.

Yandina Branch member and Wishlist Coordinator Sharon Tilly was also recognised for her work in organising workshops and collecting handmade craft donations from 12 branches across the division.

These “handmade gifts of love” are distributed to patients at five public hospitals: Caloundra, Sunshine Coast University, Maleny, Nambour and Gympie.

“It is a very rewarding role to be able to give back to the community, and try and make a difference, to help the families, women and children who are suffering illness and anxiety,” Ms Tilly said.

Division President Wendy Bebbington presented the awards, which reflect the QCWA’s long-standing principles of Courageous Advocacy, Trust and Reliability, and the sharing of skills and friendships that define the organisation’s contribution to local life.
