International jazz artist Rob McWilliams to perform in Nambour

Internationally acclaimed Australian musician, composer and educator Professor Rob McWilliams will bring his band to The Presynct in Nambour for a special Jazz Sessions performance on Thursday, September 17.

The show will begin at 6.30pm at 15 Ann Street, Nambour, with tickets priced from $25 to $45 through Oztix or at the door, subject to availability.

Born and raised in Melbourne, McWilliams began his professional career in Australia before moving to the United States in 1991 for postgraduate study. He earned a PhD in music and music education from the University of Minnesota and spent almost two decades as a professor of music at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh, where he was also head of music.

He has performed with jazz artists including Nat Adderley, Vincent Herring, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Eddie Daniels, Dale Barlow, Bobby Shew and Wilbur Wilde. His work as a performer, conductor, educator, composer and arranger has taken him across Australia, Asia, Europe, the United Kingdom and the United States.

Now based in Brisbane, McWilliams works with Yamaha Music Australia, teaches at the Jazz Music Institute, conducts with the Queensland Youth Orchestra organisation and continues to work as a freelance musician, composer, arranger, conductor and adjudicator.
