Sundale CEO reveals multi million dollar investment vision for Coast

Sundale is transforming seniors living and care on the Sunshine Coast with a comprehensive multimillion dollar investment program that will reshape how the region supports its aging population.

Speaking to the Nambour Chamber of Commerce on Thursday (October 2), Sundale CEO Cameron Taylor outlined the organisation’s unique position as one of Queensland’s most integrated seniors living and care providers, serving over 1000 residents with 730 dedicated staff members across retirement communities, care centres and in-home care.

“What makes Sundale special is our end-to-end approach to seniors living and care,” Mr Taylor said. “We’re one of the few organisations that can support someone from affordable rental accommodation right through to specialised aged care, all within our community.”

The not-for-profit organisation operates across the full spectrum of seniors services, including affordable rental housing for over-65s, retirement villages at various price points, residential aged care facilities, and in-home care services that help seniors remain safely in their own homes.

Importantly, as a member-based organisation, Mr Taylor said Sundale reinvested every dollar of surplus back into services and community. This structure has enabled the organisation to move into a sustainable surplus position for the first time in a decade, unlocking significant development opportunities.

“We’re actually a members based organisation. So we’re not ASX (Australian Stock Exchange) we’re not corporate, we’re not church-based. And by being a members-based organisation and a not-for-profit organisation, every dollar that we make is our dollar and we can invest every dollar back in to our communities.”

Current major projects include a $30 million expansion at Palmwoods, featuring 40 new homes and a state-of-the-art $5 million community events centre, with the final stages of clubhouse refurbishment and care centre extension still to come. The Palmwoods commmunity now houses  approximately 180 retirement village units alongside residential aged care, creating what Taylor describes as “one of the best integrated seniors living products on the Sunshine Coast.”

“And I don’t say that lightly because I know there’s some very good operators in this space. But to have an organisation that can deliver in home care, retirement village, and care centre all on one block of land is unique.”

The organisation’s commitment to community extends beyond living and care services. Sundale will host its second annual Community Christmas Carols event in Nambour this December, representing a $100,000 investment in community celebration.

Taylor said that Sundale’s growth was attracting residents from across Queensland highlighting the Sunshine Coast’s growing reputation as a premier destination for quality seniors living.
