Festival on lookout for volunteer coordinator
Helping bring Woombye’s biggest community celebration to life could be as simple as putting your hand up. With planning under way for the 2026 Woombye Festival organisers are calling for a Volunteer Coordinator. It’s a key role that offers the chance to be at the heart of a much-loved local event, connect with neighbours and play a direct part in strengthening community spirit.
Previously called Woombye Happy Days, the 2026 Woombye Festival is in need of your support. Once again the festival will be held on the first Sunday in May (May 3, 2026) and planning is well underway.
The organising team is desperately in need of a Volunteer Coordinator. “This is a community day run by locals for locals. One of the most important committee positions is the Volunteer Coordinator,” said Festival Director Milo Frawley.
“The position requires someone who can organise a small group of volunteers. The most important trait is to be a people-person.”
Join a friendly core group
Last year around 35-40 people volunteered over the 14-hour day. While the actual festival runs from 10am to 4pm, volunteer coverage is required from sunrise to set-up and until early evening for pack-down.
The Coordinator has three primary responsibilities: 1. Registering volunteers as they apply.
2. Allocating duties and timeslots.
3. Troubleshooting on the day.
“At all times the Volunteer Coordinator is well supported by the Festival Director, the Creative Arts Director and the organising committee,” said Milo. “You will have plenty of guidance.
“Over the past three years we have developed a friendly and helpful core group. Support will be there, as will enjoyment and a strong sense of doing good for your community,” Milo said. “We also need volunteers on the day to carry the workload, so please contact me if you want to step-up for your community.”
